Akha Chronicles Prisons The situation for the Akha who ended up in prison and how they got there was of
great concern. Support to Akha prisoners was
minimal if non existent. Prisoners were moved far from their families and
given long sentences unheard of in the west. The US Government’s
Drug War knowingly profiled and increased ethnic prison populations in
disproportion to the general population.
Prisons such as Chiangrai had heavy ethnic
populations. But the prisons themselves
