Akha Food

Akha food is full of variety, little of it processed, most all of it natural without chemicals, sprays or perservatives.

Chili peppers and salt the Akha say. But upon closer examination we find a lot more variety.

A typical Akha meal setting, seldom is there fruit, eggs or meat. Mostly it is noodles, leaves, chili peppers, and other vegetables. Vegetables can be eaten fresh, boiled or pickled.

A delicacy is Jeeh Bah Dah Bpeh, the rice pudding that is used for making whiskey. Sweet and a little buzz if you wish.

A Peh Loh tree is scraped for the bark which is put in chopped meat that is baked for a meat cake in the fire, rolled in banana leaves.
