Eric S. Rubin Ignored Human Rights Abuses of the Akha Hill Tribe While Consul in Chiangmai, Thailand

Eric S. Rubin was the Consul of the US Consulate in Chiangmai, Thailand.

While the Thai army and police were busy butchering anyone on a list, I made reports directly to Eric S. Rubin about these killings, many of them near Akha villages and many of them tribal people.

My data was used in US Government reports and on the State Department website.  But Eric S. Rubin made no loud voice about all these killings.

In April of 2004 he was transferred to a State Department job and promoted to the position of Director of Narcotics Control and Development Policy.

Do his co workers know of his previous silence?

What was  his stance on the 2274 plus drug war killings of 2003?

Well, one gets sort of an idea when he states in an interview with Chiangmai City LIfe Magazine that one of his most memorable times in Thailand was going to the hill areas to help cut down fields of opium.

We figure he must have been smoking dope!

He could have come up and seen their (hill tribe) guts blown all over the road, that would have been memorable maybe? Long as we are being stupid.

Goes to show, it pays to keep  your mouth shut while poor people are being killed.

The DEA reported the 2003 drug war a success.

The government reported that many innocent people had their names put on lists, and that there was no due process.

Most noteworthy was the massacre at Meh Joh Akha in Burma when Thai troops crossed the border and slaughtered men, women and children villagers. I reported this information to Eric S. Rubin the following day, yet there was never any investigation into the killings reported to be more than 50 people. Eric S. Rubin only stated that he considered the events "disturbing". Yes, indeed.

Note:

If you have more information on Eric S. Rubin please let us know. We think it makes him popular that he stood by while many people were murdered at the hands of US policy. No Raoul Wallenberg, that is for sure.
