Increasingly one finds the Akha marginalized down to the hardest forms of employment in various aspects of Thai society.

In Mae Chan, Chiangrai Province, this Akha woman can be seen at one of the super highway intersections darting in and out of traffic with her child on her back, trying to sell garlands to vehicle drivers waiting for the light.
