The land that Chilhowie is built on was owned by Native Americans who were driven off the land and killed. Many tribes no longer even exist after having been murdered by europeans. The remaining Native Americans, after this treatment, don't want european white people to be exploiting their names for feel good reasons which includes using them like mascots on their schools, machinery and other products.
