The Thai government along with the 3rd army and forestry department are taking all the land of Hooh Yoh Akha villages and numerous other villages.

Currently 8 villages have been listed and told that theywill loose all their farm land in the Hooh Yoh village area. Villagers were not included in these discussions and decisions. There is no alternative source of food and work for these people. This kind of policy and action is consistent with the Thai governments double standard treatment of the hill tribe people, using them to advertise for tourism while making their lives impossible. It is highly illegal to take the farm land of these Akha people.
